Mill Valley: South Asian Fire Bowl on Patio with Built in Bench

This project in Mill Valley features an antique Indonesian Cane Bowl, originally used in Southeast Asia to reduce sugar cane in sugar production. These bowls are made of cast iron and can be used for wood burning and can be retrofitted with a gas line, as shown above. The bench was built using brick surfacing witha stucco face, and recessed lighting.

San Francisco: Custom Outdoor Fire Place in Tuscan Villa Style Courtyard

In this project in San Francisco, we designed and built a Tuscan Villa style courtyard that features a raised natural stone outdoor fireplace and fountain. The fireplace is gas powered. We built the courtyard with the intention to create an outdoor living space that added continuity to the adjacent open air recreational room, which included pool table and heat lamps.

Lagunitas: Multi-Level Outdoor Living & Entertainment on Hillside Property

This property is built on a steep incline. In order to reclaim maximum outdoor living space from the steep terrain, we created a series of usable level spaces. The first level features a vegetable garden, the second ( main level) a spacious outdoor living & entertainment area, a third level features a Native America sweat lodge.

The main level consists of several patios and decks, with 2 Indonesian fire bowls, outdoor movie theater and a 8 person Jacuzzi.

Novato: Balinese Inspired Outdoor Living Space

In this Novato property, we built a landscape garden and patio with a sub-tropical Indonesian flavor. We replaced a portion of the lawn with drought resistant plants and added bamboo along the perimeter. In addition to the outdoor living room, the property also has an Indonesian fire bowl with custom screen to contain sparks.

Greenbrae: High End Outdoor Kitchen & Dining Room

This outdoor kitchen in Greenbrae is connected to a large deck with outdoor dining space. It features a built in trellis, stainless steel gas grill, sink, refrigerator, and concrete counter tops with mosaic tile inlay.

Mill Valley: Formal Outdoor Dining Room

This Mill Valley property originally had a brick patio just off the back of the house, which then dropped 13 inches to the rest of the yard, which also had drainage issues caused by water pooling in the low lying area. To resolve the drainage issues we raised the lower area to the same height as the patio by filling it with gravel. We then joined the 2 areas with 2 patio designs for contrast, one with grass between each flagstone, and one with gravel between each flagstone.

San Francisco: Ipe Hardwood Deck, Patio & Synthetic Turf Lawn

For this San Francisco residence, we removed 30 yards of sandy soil and built 3 levels of outdoor living areas. One level features an deck, walkway and steps made of sustainably harvested ipe hardwood, also known as ironwood , a rainforest hardwood that has a fire rating that is close to that of concrete. A second level features a sand set flagstone patio with ground cover in the joints and tumbled Mexican pebbles along the seams. In the third level we created a synthetic turf lawn, which requires zero maintenance. The synthetic turf is made from recycled plastic.

This patio uses a pre-cut flagstone from India that looks like Arizona flagstone, but with higher density which makes them less prone to water absorption, cracking and mildew.
